Soo....woke up at noon again today...again being the operative word. I just don't see the point in going to class this week. We aren't reviewing shit...so i'll prepare just as well reading on my own.

Did a small work out today. Biked for 15 minutes. Yes that's it. Tapering bigtime for these last two meets i guess. I'm gonna have to start my base training for cross pretty soon.

Summer is near. If i can count correctly, which i can't, we have 10 days until i'm in Q-town for the rest of summer. It sucks..but at least it's home. I feel good at home. And I hope to set my priorities straight.

So to copy Gates' Blog
Top ten goals of summer:
1.(already got a girl) Get up at by at least 8AM on weekdays to run one of the days workouts...this entails going to bed early on weekdays also.
2. Write something! and read some books...at least 2 whole ones
3.(Already have eaten a whole quart of ice cream in a sitting, also) Eat breakfast every week day.
4.Run a 5k in under 17.00, AND a 10k in under 36...maybe..ha
5. Go to Chicago to visit my girlfriend, go to a cubs game with all my friends/family at wrigley, and go to the top of the sears tower which i still haven't done.
6. Go to the driving range a lot, and then get hawaiin ice..maybe play some tennis too.
7 Make a thrift store purchase...which is really a constant running garage sale.
8.visit applebees 31 times
9. Make something with my hands tied around my back out of wood.
10. Get faster

Oh yeah! Watched a great episode of seinfeld today. I know it best by George's secret code episode. Kramer makes routes for the firemen to take, and Peterman, elaine's boss, is hilarious. "We're out of Bosco!"

Cake is today's musical desert.

At least i'm back on track with this sort of. I'm goin to bread. later

Well, well....i'm back from the west coast. Nah, actually i've been really, really busy. Well....no actually i haven't been busy at all. Flaziness...give me a break.

Well let's get right to it, there is much to discuss.

Movie Review:
I went and saw the movie, Identity, this weekend and i'd have to give a thumbs up. It's not the best movie i've seen but it is worth seeing in a theater.
The whole first half of the movie there are just little things that are a little off and you notice them and you begin to dislike the movie a little bit. The movie reminded me of the Usual Suspects and Seven in the way it was straight forward except for the little things that were off. But the movie explained for little things later. It never cheated. You think that it might have contradicted itself a couple times, but if you retrace the steps you'll see that it explains for everything quite well. The movie was not a cheesy horror movie, but it did have a lot of shocking turns. If you don't like the genre of movie, see it for no other fact than that of John Cusack being the man.

There were some pretty good previews too. Kill Bill, the new tarantino flick, is the one i'm most looking forward too. Should be pretty cool.
The next two movies i'll see in the theaters:The Matrix Reloaded, and X2

Yesterday's workout:
Mile Warmup and stretching
1X600,2X400, 4X200....It's obvious that coach wanted these to be fast, but i wasn't prepared for how fast after not running this weekend.
The 600 hurt, but i wasn't dead after it. I came across in 1.36. 62 at the 400.
The 400's hurt so much. I was sick afterwards. And my ass hurt really bad.
I came across at 60 and then 61.
Then i only did the first 200 in about 30 and i was done. I did a lot of warming down and called it a day.

Total mileage-4 miles

Today's workout- 20 minutes easy tempo, and then 4X100 meter strides afterwards.

Total mileage-3 miles...it was an easy day.

I'm off to play some poker now...

Here's today's music cuz he rocks. Beck- anything....beercan is a good one.

I also saw Without Limits over the weekend, ha...i can quote every line of that movie.

"see ya later guys"

For those of you that are just joining us, it's 4.44 in the p.m., and you're reading my blog.
What's up everybody?

Today's entry will pretty short because my heads because i'm hungover and because i stink. I need a shower, i still smell like beer.

Yesterday's workout- just a 20 minute easy run. Actually 21 minutes, so we'll call it 3 miles however accurate that may be.

My dork of a girlfriend wendy wanted me to mention so she can feel special. Happy now? Can you feel that baby, huh , huh, huh, huh? Loooser. Ha..sorry...Ace Ventura is too funny. "Aguado? Good call!"
But anyway, Wendy, you're mentioned! Way to go, you've made my blog. She's actually really cool though.

The Family Guy is so incredibly funny. "Oh no, Oh no, Oh no,....*enter Mr. Kool aid* OH YEAh!" Haha..it's just too funny.

Today's music, Dispatch- the General

Oohhh....baby, baby it's a wide world. Cat stevens. It was on the radio on the way to practice...yesterday..it was cool.
I played in a halo tournament last night; that's why I couldn't post yesterday. Anyway...we got 5th I think in the tournament. But i think we were the 3rd best team. It was a fluke.

Yesterday's workout:

3 sets of 4X200meters.......40 seconds of rest in between each 200, then 5 minutes in between each set.
I was knocking off most of them at about 28, with a couple 29's slipped in there, And one 30. But also had one 27
1 mile warmup, 2 miles of cooldown time...counting the jogging in between.

Total mileage-4.5 miles.

Not too bad of a workout...The longer distance guys did 3Xmile....Rich was moving. He was hitting 4.40 each time.

That's all for now..but i'll hit up the blog later with today's workout.
I'm taking a Japanese Civilization history class next semester...so in spirit of that.

Clone high is funny....watch it. Good music. Foo fighters. They were just at the UIC pavillion and i didn't get to see the show. A huge regret on my part. Oh well...life goes on.

Today's workout: 4X1000 with 5 minutes rest or so.

Oh yeah...8AM- Weights.....Leg Curls light 2X8 , Bench Press kind of light 2X5-7@135Lbs, Seated Row, and incline press.

PM:
I warmed up a mile and stretched. The workout went as follows. 3.18, 3.17, 3.15, 3.13. And probably about a mile and a half cool down.
I felt pretty good about this workout considering my lack of training last week and the fact that my knee has been messed up. It was nothing flashy, but i felt really strong and my knee felt good. So i was pleased with the workout even though it wasn't incredibly fast.

Today's mileage- 5.5 miles

But if you'll excuse me..I have a lot to do. I mean a lot.
I'm out

Instead of editing, i'm just gonna make a new blog.

Soreness set in again today and did not do any workout to try and let it recover a little bit.

Mileage for the week is low- 10 miles of actual running.
Did a lot of swimming and biking though.

Week of April 14th-20: 10 miles

Grooovin......on a sunday afternoon.

Not much to discuss, but i'll try. Oh yeah. The results of the Elhmurst Intercollegiate Invitational, which can be found with this link http://www.elmhurst.edu/~athletic/ , have me a little perplexed. The official time came out to be a 2.06.6, which is great because I thought surely it would end up being 2.07. something. But the results have that Chicago St. fellow ahead of me and not vice versa. I was specificly told that I had beaten him by the guys at the finish line. Now it had him finishing in 2.06.4. If he had beaten me, there is no way he could have edged me by .2 of a second. I mean we were stride for stride. They have him tying with another individual that got a 2.06.4 but that person was placed ahead of him. Now I realize there could have been another guy from a different heat that could have gotten the same exact time to the tenth, however unlilkely. So maybe there was an error in the results and I actually got a 2.06.4. Ha....wishful thinking i suppose. Next week is the UIC invitational, which we might not have due to lack of a track. Oh well, maybe i'll get a good week of training in then.

A couple of side notes:

A shout out to my big bro who completed his first race since beginning running this past fall. He chose a grueling 7.75 mile(a 50 kilometer 4-man team race in all) cross country race as his first venture. He traversed the hilly and somewhat rocky terrain in about an hour and 12 minutes. Kudos.

David Kimani, the University of Alabama superstar, collapsed while eating lunch and was pronounced dead this week. Kimani was a 6 time national collegiate champion and really one of the most prolific collegiate runners in all of history. I saw him run only once when I had the privelege of going to the NCAA national cross country race in Terre Haute, Indiana this past fall. He got 11th while forcing the pace the whole way and just running out of gas at the end. Condolences to his family.

Movies...."Do I make you horny baby, do I?!" The first Austin Powers movie is by far the best. "No here's me in a nutshell, Look, I'm in a nutshell, how did i get into this nutshell? What sort of shell has a nut like this?" Classic

Music- "Solsbury Hill" by Peter Gabriel
And the Classic Burt Bacherach hit from Austin Powers, "What the world needs now" (If that's the title)

Til next time,
Peace ...in the middle east

Race Summary of the Emhurst College Invitational:

Overall it was a decent day for UIC track. A handful of our top guys and gals went to the Kansas relays this weekend for some stiffer competition. And since i'm not one of them, I travel with the split squad to Elmhurst. Some performances that stand out would be Billy running a PR with a 4.17 1500. He ran a strong race. Kevin Mitchem jumped to third place in the high jump, nothing special for him though. Tia Shepphard, a HUGE(as in muscular) volleyball player, got first place in the Female Javelin by a wide margin. This is her first time competing and she had only thrown the Javelin around 10 times in her life. What a beast.

And now to my race as I can tell you've been waiting anxiously. I was the 2nd man in the first alley. It had been raining while I was warming up but stopped for the race. Normally i wouldn't mind about the rain, but I had to wait for my race an extra long time because their timing system sprung a flat. It really sucked and I became really tight. I was in the 4th of 7 heats for the 800. Finally, they call 4th heat to the line. They do it pretty quickly because they are way behind schedule. As i'm writing this the cubs are on the verge of going to extra innings despite an awesome performance by Mark Prior. But I digress. I barely had time to get my sweats off and get my little jump in before the gun sounded. I get off pretty good around the first turn but by the cut line I had tucked my self towards the back of the pack. I stay strong down the backstretch but i notice that i'm not really busting my ass. I fall into last place around the second turn when I decide i've had enough of this. Down the homestretch on the first lap I pass two guys by the time we get to the start line. I was right between 63-64(and later it turned out to be 63.8) when i crossed the line. This is usually when i fall apart. But i guess due to the easy first lap i had a little something left in me. Either that or i thought i had to make up for that slow lap. Either way I was moving around the turn at a good clip. I try to get up on my toes on the back stretch and I pass another guy by the time we get to the last turn. Here is where i revived my kick of old which used to be pretty deadly. I really opened up my stride and passed everybody but three guys by the homestretch. There were 12 guys in the heat by the way. On the homestretch i was still kickin madstile as i moved into 3rd place. 1st place was out of reach, but 2nd was not. It was a guy from Chicago State that i've actually played chess with before. He's a nice guy, but i took him down. I overtook him once with about 10-15 meters to go, but he fought back and stayed with me. But i leaned at the line for 2nd place. Just a 2.06.8, nothing special. . But i felt a lot better than I have all week. I feel there are good things to come. I didn't run the 4 X 4 because we left early.

Cubs are in the 10th inning. Damn. The NHL playoffs are getting pretty heated now. I'm rooting for the Wild from my days in Minnesota. Likewise I'm rooting for the Timberwolves in the NBA playoffs.

"Ben, don't ya think this Idea is a little half-baked?" "No, dad it's completely baked." Watched "The Graduate" last night. One of my favorite movies.

Music....John Mayer is sticking pretty strong right now. Yeah, i'm a pussy.
OH shit, cubs just scored in the top of the 10th. They're going to win! Pumped for the cubs game on tuesday. Which I have to go to amidst the 3 papers that are due this week. Ah this week is going to be me down.

Today's workout: Nada...I got my knee iced and an eletrical stem thing. Hope it helps because i'm still running tomorrow

I'm stayin in and workin on the homework tonight because i gotta get up at the crack of dawn for the elmhurst invitational tomorrow. I really have a lot to do and not much time to do it in.

Ahh...Good version of tiny dancer is done by Dave Grohl. It's really sweet.
I can't think of anything.

So i leave you with the song that i stuck in my head.

Secret, Secret...I've got a secret...
So I went to see this play tonight, "Lady Audley's Secret", for my theatre class. I have to write a puurper on it and I thought it'd be in my best interest to take in a viewing of it. Contrary to my earlier suspicions, the play did NOT suck. It was a really cool story about the search for truth amidst a series of secrets, murders, and plots of revenge. I dont' know quite what that means...but I liked the play anyways.
It also brought me back from my slothdom by inciting some activity in my brain. This day has been a waste until now. Check it...My workout today.

AM:There was no A.M because i woke up at noon.
PM:Was spent playing Paradise Poker online(which is just the more concise and slightly lesser known version of Satan...By the way..watch the daily show...very funny.) and then playing Halo. No workout whatsoever. On my behalf...my knee is kind of fucked up. But for the sake of honesty..I should have done something.
Oh yeah..i caught some of the cubs game on the tube too. They won 16-3. Hells yeah..They're in first place. Cubs-Twins World Series. You heard it here first.
That first line of my blog is from Styx-Mr. Roboto. It was an Anthem from my high school cross country days. So my day was useless until i saw the play. I'm going to start writing my paper right now actually. Or at least do something productive.
Peace...it is the word...it is the way

I just spent the night playing poker and halo. Such a loser...I have so much homework to do too. Instead got cleaned out 17 dollars in poker and played a video game. And right now it's 3 am...and i wanna go to beeed. O.A.R reference. Good band.
Good thing i don't really have class tomorrow..or else i'd be fucked. Yeah..i'm pretty sleepripped...

Anyone that takes the time to read this...cool, I guess. I'm just going to be using this to log my workouts and such. Every once in a while i might have something useful to say, but other than that it is strictly for me and fellow runners to look at what kind of workouts a below average DI runner goes through.
I will have race summaries and other kinds of garbage listed up in here.
Today's workout:
AM-Lifted... mostly light stuff
PM-I was told to take a couple days off because I am so exhausted and my knee is kind of fucked up. Did 15 minutes biking, 33 Elliptical, 15 more biking. Pretty decent workout. I'll probably run tomorrow.

I messed up my knee pretty badly in a workout i did on monday. It sucks...but hopefully i'll still run this weekend at the Elmhurst Invite. I'm down for running the open 800 and the 4X400. I ran the same thing last week in which i sucked it up in the 8 but ran a 53.6 split in the 4X4. Not too bad for a slow distance runner. I need to start eating better. I just feel better about my fitness when i'm eating more healthy things. Most of all i just need to make sure i'm getting enough fruits and vegetables..and above all..sleep. Oh and i need to stop playing halo...but i'm just kickin too much ass at it lately.
School could be better. I have 3 papers due in the next week which sucks some major assss. I'm still pretty uncertain about my future. Uncertainty is pretty much a story of my life though.
Rock on!
